 “Destiny’s Favor” by Dariel Raye

2

His world shifted the moment she was born. Now, nothing can stop him from

making her his.

Imagine meeting a man who looks like an angel, wings and all? What would you

do if this man told you he existed with only one purpose – to claim you and only

you?

Destiny Carter is a feisty, take charge, Rubinesque beauty with a tough façade,

who finds herself in that age old quandary, “always a bridesmaid, never a bride.” A

string of lackluster relationships leave her hopeless and ready to settle…Until she

meets Japheth, the man her fiancé claims is his best friend! Japheth’s arrival is

heralded by an attack on Destiny’s life, and instinctively, she knows this is just the

beginning.

Born more than 200 years ago, Japheth looks like an angel but he’s far from it. In

his world, the ratio of men to women is 500 to 1, and although he’s a superior

being, he’s willing to break the most sacred law of his brothers, even drink human

blood, to have one meant for him alone.

When he meets Destiny, he knows she’s the one he’s been searching for. To claim

her, he will have to betray a friend, risk his life, and hardest of all, humble himself

enough to win her love.

Excerpt

Caught in a Kiss

As soon as they left the room, Destiny removed her hand from his and reached

for her book. She gave him that suspicious look again, pursing her lips before

she spoke. Sitting in a chair directly across from the sofa, she narrowed her eyes

and openly asked, “What is it about you that sets me on edge?”

Japheth lifted one corner of his mouth. Charming. This little female continued to

challenge him. “You tell me. Can you sense that we are connected?”

He crossed his arms, taking special notice of the quickening of her heartbeat and

imagined her luscious chocolate nipples tightening to taut buds just waiting for

his tongue. He braced himself for the lie, her sweet scent of arousal even

stronger now.

“You and me? No. I’ve never met you before.” And there it was, right on cue.

She placed the book on the table beside her and stood, her expression daring him

to come closer. “I don’t think Robert would like…”

The air shifted with her movement, and Japheth closed his eyes briefly, basking

in her scent. Just one taste. He opened them, moving toward her. “Robert.

You’re not going to say anything to Robert. If I decided to take you for myself

right now with Robert in the next room, he would be the least of my problems.

Whether or not we’ve met before has nothing to do with our connection.”

Destiny glared at him and took a step back. “If you decided to take me?” She

pointed her index finger at him as she continued. “You listen to me, you

arrogant bastard, you don’t decide to do anything…”

J narrowed his eyes and took another step toward her, closing the distance she’d

tried to put between them until he was mere inches away. His conscience, long

quieted into silence, balked at the idea of entrancing her and taking her so far

from Robert she would forget he existed. There was something about her that

made her willingness to be with him more important than his desire for her. Her

wants and needs took precedence over his own. He shook his head, silencing his

conscience again.

Destiny stumbled forward, an apparent moment of dizziness, placing the index

finger of her right hand at her forehead and the palm of her left hand on his

shoulder to steady herself. She blinked several times, her dark lashes appearing

to move in slow motion, and looked into his eyes as if seeing him for the first

time.

J wasn’t sure what was happening. He hadn’t done anything to entrance her. He

had wanted to, but he was certain he had restrained himself, yet she tilted her

head up and kissed him. A mere brush of her velvety-soft lips sent a spark of

possession through his entire body. He gripped her upper arms, dragging her

body against him, and deepened the kiss.

Seekers. He couldn’t shake the feeling that they were getting closer this time –

that his contact with Destiny would make him and her easier for them to locate.

His feelings were always right.

He loosened his grip, allowing her to step back. The fact that she had already

been attacked at least twice meant his enemies had found her. Although she had

not described her attackers, J knew that the same evil creatures he had decimated

at the bus station had attacked Destiny before his arrival. He had quickly wiped

Destiny’s memory of the attack as well as Robert’s, but to his surprise, guilt

twisted inside him. He did not like wiping her memory or altering her in any

way. Her connection to him placed her in danger, and he wanted her to fully

understand whatever decision she made.

She stared into his eyes. “Oh, I, um, that’s not what I, I mean, I didn’t…”

Destiny’s gaze shifted slightly, and she took in a sharp breath.

J frowned, clenching his jaw before turning to face Robert. Dammit. His heart

plummeted when he saw her reaction. He had sensed the moment Robert awoke,

but Destiny commanded every bit of his consciousness. She was all he could think

about, and he needed her away from Robert. He also didn’t want her hurt in any

way. He felt her pain and confusion, the new sensation throwing him off balance

for a moment. He had always known he had the ability to feel another’s emotions,

but until now, he had never allowed anyone to get close enough.

Review   Brotherly Love: Stepbrother Romance

Brotherly Love: Stepbrother Romance
Burning Desire

By Cassie Donoghue and

Under My Skin by Verity James

4****

Really liked these two stories. I usually avoid stepbrother romances but now I don’t remember why, these were pretty good. They both were well written and good plots. I really enjoyed them. I had never read anything by these two and will definitely check out more of their work. These books are for mature audiences, some steamy parts, which I enjoy. These were definitely worth the read.

Watchman by Arla Dahl

The Watchman - Cover Reveal

“The Watchman (Immoral Virtue Book 3)”

by Arla Dahl

Published: November 20, 2015

Genre: Historical Erotica

Blurb:

Evil is found when evil is sought.

“For when those in authority neglect to reprove sin, then very often the good are punished with the wicked.” – Heinrick Kramer, 1486, The Malleus Maleficarum

For yielding to the proud tears of an accused witch, The Watchman’s soul may have been blackened by evil. To prove himself unmarked, his body free of the witch’s branding, he must stand naked before all and submit to the governor’s thorough and shameful examination.

Though Giles Scott would resist the governor’s practiced and patient touch, only complete abandon might prove his innocence. And since the witch cannot feel, only Giles’ arousal can spare his neck from the noose. And so, he surrenders.

Yet screams from another chamber – perhaps pained, perhaps pleasured – awaken memories from Giles’ dark, torturous past, and the governor’s touch no longer teases but stings…much like the punishing bite of a whip against the flesh of THE WATCHMAN.

From the Author:

THE WATCHMAN, Book 3 in the Immoral Virtue Trilogy is a dark erotic twist of an already twisted period in American History, the Salem witch trials. Due to its explicit sexual nature, with forced consent, M/m, M/f/f and other BDSM concepts, THE WATCHMAN is intended for audiences 18 and over.

Mark

“The Mark (Immoral Virtue)”

Blurb:

Be this a witch?

In 1600’s New England, it was decreed thus:
“Whoever lies with the beast will bear a mark that is insensible and in their most secret parts, and may be located only through diligent and careful search.”

Accused of witchcraft, Abigail Prescott must strip for the masses and submit to the Governor’s inspection. She is ill-prepared for this shameful, grueling probe as it permits him to see and test her every inch and every hollow.

Governor Jameson Foster has examined many before, but Abigail enchants him like no other. Before he succumbs to her sweet charms, he must uncover the dark truth of this bewitching.

Should she feel his prodding and respond to his touch, her innocence will be proven. And this night he will claim her. Should she resist, fail to cry out in pain or in pleasure, then all will know she is a witch who bears The Mark.

“I defy you not to squirm and moan right along with Abigail as you read The Mark. Rejoice, erotic-fiction fans. Arla Dahl has arrived!” –best-selling author, Pam McKenna

From the Author:
THE MARK, Book 1 in the Immoral Virtue Trilogy is a highly erotic, non-romantic tale of sexual awakening and abandon, of the duty to submit vs. the desire to resist. Due to its explicit sexual nature, with elements of BDSM and dubious consent, THE MARK is intended for audiences 18 and over.

Accused

“The Accused (Immoral Virtue Book 2)”

Blurb:

There is no shame in pleasure.

“Wherefore for the sake of fulfilling their lusts (women) consort even with devils.” -Heinrich Kramer, 1486 “Malleus Maleficarum” (The Hammer of Witches)

To clear their names and save their souls the accused are stripped and bound before all as they await their governor’s examination.

At the governor’s direction, Abigail Prescott, herself accused as a witch a mere hour past, will help test the women’s responses, for a witch marked by the devil cannot feel, no matter how gently caressed, no matter how deeply probed. Under the governor’s scrutiny Abigail is to thoroughly examine their naked flesh for the black mark of the beast.

But the prideful Elizabeth Hobbs withdraws consent. And her fate is sealed. Taken deep into the forest by the watchman, she will remain naked and open to the elements to await her punishment.

Stirred by her proud tears, the watchman touches her. Soothes her. But when a man succumbs to a witch’s charms, he too stands among THE ACCUSED.

“Explosively erotic with unexpected twists and surprises that keep the pages turning.” – 2013 RITA Finalist, Pamela Hearon

From the Author:
THE ACCUSED, Book 2 in the Immoral Virtue Trilogy continues the highly erotic, non-romantic, tale of resistance and of submission. Due to its explicit sexual nature, with elements of BDSM and dubious consent, THE ACCUSED is intended for audiences 18 and over.

Dawson Thomas is a rent boy, a young man who goes out hoping to impress a man who’ll pay him to be a submissive for a kinky night together. One night he accompanies a friend to a BDSM club in New York. Raw Hide is a place where men gather to live out their fantasies and Dawson can’t believe his good luck when the owner invites him upstairs to be paid for a night of kink. When others whisper that the man is hideously deformed, calling him “The Monster”, Dawson remembers the cost of his tuition and puts aside his fears, accompanying the bodyguard to the man’s apartment.

Each night, Cole Chambliss paces in his rooms above Raw Hide, watching beautiful submissives give themselves to their Doms, just a few steps down the stairs. Cole longs for days past when he could go out in public… when no one would stare at him in horror. After paying a bitter price when fighting for his country, Cole knows his days of walking among whole men are gone forever… that is until one night he takes a risk that terrifies him. The stunning submissive who’s caught his eye is something extraordinary and Cole decides he must chance everything for one last shot at happiness.

Excerpt 1:

“Good match you made, boss,” Bull said, walking up to the desk where Cole stood.

Cole sat down heavily, looking up at his huge bodyguard. “I don’t want Zander touching him again and he’s not allowed in the pit,” he hissed. His voice was even more hideous and ragged than usual.

“What? Who? Zander?” Bull asked, perplexed. “You don’t want Zander in the pit again but boss, you said…”

“Dawson, you idiot!” Cole shouted.

“But, Cole, you said you wanted Dawson to play with Zander. I explained to him that you just wanted him to take an interest in the submissive the way you asked me to. I told him you didn’t want to see him hooking up with the wrong Dom and that you wanted to see him be a friend to Dawson.”

Cole nodded, feeling a hard rock in the pit of his stomach. “And, did you tell Zander I’d cover Dawson’s fees?”

“Yeah, boss. Besides, their scene was brilliant. Listen to that applause. You haven’t changed your mind, have you Cole?”

Cole cursed the fact that he hadn’t turned off the speaker as the crowd went crazy for them. He squeezed his eyes shut and laid his head back on the leather headrest on his chair. His brain felt like it would split in two from agony and his stomach was twisting with nausea from just having seen Dawson given pleasure by the other dominant. It was killing him. He opened his eyes and looked miserably over at Bull.

“Just… just tell Zander he’s not to touch the boy again, okay?”

“Sure, boss. Anything you say.” Bull turned to walk away but seemed think better of it as he stopped himself in his tracks and spun back around. “You know, Cole, it wouldn’t be so bad if you told the boy you loved him. I know he’s crazy about you too. You’re just too prideful to see it.”

Fucking bloody friends! Who needs you? “You think I’m proud of these scars? I curse them every day!” He stood so fast, the desk chair spun behind him.

“Oh, I didn’t realize Dawson had seen you,” Bull said. He walked back up to Cole’s desk. “I thought you’d blindfolded him and he’d gotten to know you on the inside.” He pointed at Cole’s chest.

Cole’s mouth dropped open. I have! Cole was suddenly pissed all over again as Bull stood there staring at him smugly. He knew damned well what Bull was trying to imply… that somehow Dawson had fallen in love with Cole in spite of never seeing him, meaning the only way he’d ever learned anything about Cole was by the way he perceived him to be on the inside. Cole had to admit, it was an intelligent argument and one he had dismissed until his friend had mentioned it. He’d never thought it was possible that a man like Dawson could fall in love with him and it bugged him to no end that Bull could read him so easily.

He’d lost all his confidence on a battlefield in Afghanistan. But, Cole had seen the emotions in Dawson as he’d sent him away… the way he’d apologized and sobbed, thinking he had done something wrong, had displeased him in some manner. How selfish you’ve been. You toyed with that sweet submissive, made him fall in love with you, and then cast him off, pushing him into someone else’s arms. You stupid man. He stared at Bull for a few seconds, finally sitting back down in his chair, squeezing his eyes shut in shame, and leaning his head back as he realized what a complete ass he’d been to both Dawson and to Zander. Cole had stayed up in his perch of power and played with the hearts and minds of both men and he despised himself for it. He looked up at Bull who hovered over his desk, looking angry.

“I’ve been a horrible idiot and I’ve treated them both badly.” He hated the way emotions seemed to thicken his already ruined voice.

“You know, Cole. Zander’s a big boy. He’ll get over it in a heartbeat if you were to tell him that you made a mistake and wanted Dawson,” Bull said, his voice quiet.

“But, Dawson—”

“Dawson’s a whole other thing, Cole. I think you know that.”

“He’s in love with me? How is that possible?” Cole was flabbergasted that it could be possible.

“You’re in love with him, that’s evident,” Bull said, “Why is it such a far stretch for you to believe he could love you back?”

“I think that’s obvious,” Cole snapped. His stomach was churning as he stared at Bull.

“You know, for an intelligent man, Cole, sometimes, you cannot see past the nose on your own face. Even without the use of his vision, Dawson saw the man I know you are. He saw a compassionate man who has so much to offer the world.”

Cole blew out a long breath as he frowned. “He would be wrong. Those days are over.”

“Then if you truly believe that about yourself, you’re not the man I once knew,” Bull accused. His face was terrifying at the moment and Cole realized must look like his warrior ancestors at their most fierce. “You’ve closed yourself off from the world for four years, refusing to show yourself to anyone. So what if you have scars or a voice you hate. You are a man I’ve always been proud to call friend… and a fantastic Dom,” he said. Cole was surprised how worked up he seemed to be getting. “Besides that, you’re the only one I could trust myself to come out to, Cole. No one in my family would accept me as I was. You rescued me, Cole. I know your heart. Are you too proud to take a chance on that submissive? If you are, I quit.” He turned away and began to walk toward the door to the apartment as Cole shot out of his chair and ran around the desk.

“What are you saying, Bull? You quit?” His voice rumbled with emotion.

Bull stopped in his tracks and turned. The fury written on his best friend’s face was terrifying in its intensity. “Yeah, you heard me. I’m tired of your whining. Get out and live, Cole… or die here alone. Those are your choices. If you can’t see the man you really are, it’s you who’s wearing the blindfold, you stupid dick.”

Without another word, he stomped out of the apartment, slamming the door behind himself. Cole stared at the door for a few seconds trying his best to comprehend what had happened in the last few minutes. He turned and walked back to the windows where he stared out at the club teeming with every kind of life… a life he’d given up on long before.

Excerpt 2:

I have been an author for about 7 years and I’ve been published since 2010 with 40+ titles. I write MM erotic romance. Since I’ve been first published, the MM genre has exploded in popularity and that makes my heart happy. More and more readers have come to discover the world I write in and that is a great thing. It means the world is becoming a kinder place to the concept of gay marriage and gay relationships, if nothing else, in our reading choices.
As far as advice to new authors, I must approach this subject with humility. Every author/writer has their own process so I can only relate my own to you. I have been published with 5 major publishers and I self-publish many of my titles now. “Say my Name” is the first book I have given to a publisher in almost 4 years and Blackpoint books has been wonderful to work with.
Every publisher is different but they all expect a few things from a finished novel/novella. In my experience, these points are important points to keep in mind.
1. Once you have completed your book’s first draft, go back through it and give it a thorough re-read, cleaning up errors in tense, spelling, and grammar. When you do this, try to pay careful attention to character names. Even the most experienced author will occasionally substitute one character’s name for the other by accident. It happens to me all the time.

2. Watch for consistency when you write. I write a lot of mystery/thrillers so things (clues) have to happen throughout the manuscript and build as the story goes along to the end when you’ll have a thrilling conclusion. This goes for writing purely romance as well. Your hero/heroine will eventually have a scene which will culminate in not only their passion for one another, but their realization that this is truly love which they are falling in. You want to make sure that this builds to a climactic finish. You don’t want them falling in love in the beginning and then realizing they lust for one another in the middle. There will always be lust but very rarely does a character fall in love at first sight, though it does happen occasionally. Make your readers wait for that. It makes the book much more enjoyable for them.

3. If you are self-publishing, make sure you hire an amazing editor. I have written many many books and I still use a professional editor who ALWAYS finds things wrong with my manuscript. These may be as simple as using the wrong homonym (ie. scent/sent, their/they’re/there). You get the idea. Or, she/he may point out things that you haven’t considered (ie. “How about here you explain why your character is conflicted”) That sort of thing. If you are working with an editor whether it be through a publisher or not, please take your editors advice. They are paid to help polish your book, not to make suggestions that will hurt it. Great editors are like gold, priceless.

Even fallen angels can wish for a miracle.

As a succubus, preying on humans is Raschael’s business, and mortal feelings are nothing but a waste of time. So maybe her king meant to punish her when he sent her out to hunt on one of the most holy mortal holidays. Or maybe he just wanted her far, far away, so he could banish Raschael’s one and only friend.

Now Raschael must track down a missing fallen angel, and she doesn’t have a clue where to start. Bigger predators are closing in, and Rasche’s only lead is a Christmas stripper named Noelle.

Book excerpt

The waitress ditched her tray of drinks and took Rasche by the hand, leading her into one of the back rooms. The Christmas theme survived even in the private show quarters, though with a more generous degree of triple-X action. The small space Raschael’s escort chose had been decorated with garlands and wreaths, and a stocking hung by the door, but on top of the holiday trimmings there were also striking boudoir pictures. They all contained the same sweet, golden angel, but in much less “angelic” form.

Raschael spun to address the woman personally. “Who are you?”

By way of answer, the woman nodded her head at the bright red stocking. Noelle, it read in sapphire blue, glittery letters across the trim.

“Noelle?” Rasche asked. “Really?”

“Yes, really,” Noelle replied with a brilliant smile. “It really is my God-given name. Honest.”

“Alright, Noelle, then about Kyrie–”

“Oh, now, now.”

Noelle took Rasche’s hand again, stroking her fingers, and led her to the soft red leather seat stationed in the center of the room. She gestured for Raschael to sit and, before Raschael could stop her, climbed expertly up into the succubae’s lap.

“First thing’s first, gorgeous. How about we get a little more…intimate?”

She raised a hand and snapped her fingers. The faded strains of Blink 182 from the main room became inaudible, as Lady Gaga’s “Speechless” flowed into the room’s own speakers. Noelle lowered herself over Raschael’s body, rocking in time with the sultry piano, wrapping arms around the fallen one’s neck.

Forgetting herself for the briefest of moments, Raschael closed her eyes and let the first swell of carnal desire stir to life in her loins and chest. The dancer didn’t stop her when she lifted up her hands and cupped them over warm, soft buttocks.

Noelle smelled of warm vanilla. She had a luscious body, petite with classic curves, Renaissance in a way…but with eyes closed, Raschael’s mind made her Kyriel, little and lithe and naughty. Under her hands, Noelle’s plump hindquarters might have been Kyrie’s slim, boyish ass instead, and the sweet scent of heather rose up with the remembered sounds of Kyrie’s intoxicated desire, from earlier in the evening. Rasche lowered her face to nuzzle against a plentiful swell of tender breasts, and she sighed before she could stop herself, moving her body against the other woman’s with yearning.

“Why don’t you tell me about your friend,” Noelle whispered against her ear, gyrating ever-so-delightfully against Raschael’s body. “Why are you out searching for her on Christmas Eve, hm?”

“She ran away,” Raschael said. Her palms caressed the dancer’s ass greedily. “And I’m responsible for bringing her back before she gets in trouble.”

Noelle tsk’d her. “Now, now, Raschael. You make her out to be some sort of bad puppy.”

The dancer extended a leg and swung herself neatly around, facing away now to grind her pert little rear down on the succubae’s lap instead. Noelle’s hands stole to hers and guided them up to stroke tits through gauzy white fabric. Raschael’s fingertips found stiffened nipples, and she teased them through the thin material.

“Who told you my name?” she asked. “Kyrie?”

“Mm, could be…”

Noelle’s hands closed, warm, over Rasche’s own, as the dancer welcomed her to knead, stroke, and caress. Rasche inclined her head to breathe in deep, relishing the scent of beautiful blonde hair.

“Listen, honey,” she whispered. “I’m sure as hell enjoying this, and if I had the time to spare I’d be all over you in ways you can’t even conceive.”

“Mm-hm,” Noelle replied. Her hips rolled in languid, mesmerizing rhythm, and Rasche let out a little growl as she returned the the motion in kind.

“Oh, sweetness, I’d fuck you until you couldn’t stand,” she said. “But not now. You’re going to tell me if you’ve seen my girl, and where she is, and then we’ll see about making it up to you. Sound good?”

When she isn’t visiting the worlds of immortals, demons, dragons and goblins, Brantwijn fills her time with artistic endeavors: sketching, painting, customizing My Little Ponies and sewing plushies for friends. She can’t handle coffee unless there’s enough cream and sugar to make it a milkshake, but try and sweeten her tea and she will never forgive you. She moonlights as a futon for four lazy cats, loves tabletop role-play games, and can spend hours watching Futurama, American Horror Story or Buffy the Vampire Slayer while she writes or draws.

In addition to her novels, Brantwijn has self-published erotic short stories available on Smashwords or Amazon. She’s also had a short story published in the Cleiss Press Big Book of Orgasm and the anthology Coming Together Through The Storm. She hopes to have several more tales to tell as time goes on. She has author pages on GoodReads and Amazon, and loves to see reader comments on her work. Her short stories occasionally pop up at Foreplay and Fangs, her blog at http://brantwijn.blogspot.com.

 Top 10 Fun Activities

For Pulling Your Writerly Head out of Your Ass

The Writer’s Block is strong with me. I’m rarely clever enough to face it head on and I can let it put me off a project for months. Sometimes years.

Any writer develops their own ways of processing writer’s block, but if you’re like me you may want to have a ready list of activities to combat it and keep your head in the story. You don’t want to lose that fabulous feeling of being in your character’s world if you can help it. So, in addition to the shield and sword of attacking writer’s block, may I suggest 10 Fun Writing Activities to Distract you From the Block.

1. Have a frank conversation with your characters – Sometimes a chat with your characters can help you get to the heart of the complication. “Alright, guys…what the hell is your problem?” is a good place to start.

2. Create a “Dream Cast” including celebrity pictures – Character breakdowns in the form of a “Dream Cast” are a popular extra feature requested by readers and reader blogs. They’re fun to do, too. Go through your cast of characters and try to imagine who might play them in a bit Hollywood Blockbuster. Create a file including pictures of your chosen actors and actresses, and describe why you’ve made these choices.

3. Create a playlist mapping out the plot – Take a look at movie scores and soundtracks, and create one for your book. Arrange it in a way that “maps out” your story. When I create my playlists I put the pieces in order so that when I listen to it beginning to end, it reflects the tones and scenes I imagine, also from beginning to end.

4. Skip ahead to a scene you really want to write – For me, this is usually a sex scene. I’ve been known for the phrase, “When in doubt, throw in some sex.”

5. Write a scene that’s not actually part of the book, but that you really want to write – Maybe it’s a “behind-the-scenes” interaction between characters, a conversation with a few of the supporting cast, a “Who Would Win” matchup between conflicting powers that couldn’t take place within the confines of the plot. As a bonus you can use this as “Special Features” later on!

6. Do a character bio – A very in-depth one. Examine one of your cast on a close, intimate level. Here’s a sample of a character questionnaire, but you can find many more online. These are fun, not to mention useful, for getting closer to your characters. You may learn something new about them.

7. Yell at your characters. No, seriously – I find myself in arguments with my characters all the time, especially when that “frank conversation” doesn’t work. It may seem silly, but I know I’m not the only author who does it. It’s helpful to try and get into your character’s heads and understand their frustrations, also to recognize their voice and speech patterns. Remember not all characters sound like you do, and not all characters sound the same.

8. Map things out and get visible references – If your block feels related to a confusion about mapping, layout, building architecture or geography, do some image searches and get a more visual idea of what you are trying to describe.

9. Watch a movie or read a book but only if it directly relates or evokes a setting relevant to your work – Remember you’re trying to stay in the right headspace. When I wrote Lotus Petals, I watched Memoirs of a Geisha during my down time; during the writing of Goblin Fires, I’d take a break with Jim Butcher’s Cold Days, which is full of fae characters and magical situations.

10. Go back and re-examine the thing that initially inspired you to the work –In other words, get back to basics, go back to your roots, visit the work’s “inner child”. Immerse yourself in your original inspiration again and go back to that first moment you fell in love with the idea.

Hopefully these exercises can help you get around that pesky block without ousting you from the story or leaving you bereft of ideas. If you’re like me and you don’t want to get derailed from your story for a good long while, finding ways to keep the creative juices flowing in the right channels while casting off the shackles of writer’s block can be a valuable skill.
